The last phrase made me laugh! Well, that’s just me attempting to be the Advert/Marketing Consultant to the hypothetical Church Choir Company Limited!

Okay, to the issue. For a Choir to really excel, she must know her BUSINESS! She must know her BUSINESS!! She must know her BUSINESS!!!

A serious restaurant knows that her business is offering tasty and healthy meals, and compromising that will amount to digging her grave!

A Church Choir must see herself like a Company. As such, a Church Choir should have perfect understanding of these 2 points:

1. Must know very well that her business

• is not in being seen at the Choir stand every Sunday alone
• is not in wearing beautiful uniforms alone
• is in presenting excellent and rich Choral Music
• is in being the ones that show the way and lead the way in every Singing and Musical endeavour of the Church
• is in creating and maintaining a richly healthy, interesting and exciting musical atmosphere in that Church which they serve. The state of Music in that Church lie in their hand.

A Choir that compromises in these ought to be ‘de-accredited’ and her ‘licence revoked’!! Imagine Church Choirs are being given licence to operate and go through accreditation and re-accreditation like the Nigeria Universities Commission do to Universities in Nigeria, how many are we going to have?

They have Customers! Yes, they have! They are the congregation of that Church that is seated listening every time they present their song!

Their Customer must

• go away having heard something from what the Choir is telling them
• always be happy and expectant whenever the Choir is called upon to minister/present their song.
